EDRE301 The Cultural Environment from a Christian Perspective ( Hebrew Scriptures ) Elective
This unit will introduce student teachers to the Hebrew Scriptures, exploring themes such as Creation, De-creation, Re-creation ,Prophets and kings, Covenant, Nationhood, Division, Exile and Rebirth. Topics from the Christian Scriptures will also be introduced, these are ; The Gospels, The Promised one, Pre- Ministry, Miracle Ministry, Teaching Ministry and death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Student teachers will discover how Jesus is the fulfillment of the Hebrew Scriptures. They will learn strategies for telling Hebrew Scripture stories and Christian Scripture stories with children and how to engage children in praying the psalms. Using the Shared Christian Praxis Approach, student teachers will explore strategies and activities appropriate to teaching children from elementary to senior primary the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures. Appropriate assessments for Christian Religious Education will also be explored. Wherever possible, learning should be practical, what is learnt in the classroom, should be implemented outside the classroom in the real world. This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Cultural Environment from a Christian Perspective’ at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to reflect, plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning.

EDSC301 Earth in Space
EDSC301 ‘Earth in Space’ is a Semester 5 science course offered in the Bachelor of Education (Primary Teaching) in the third year of studies.The course covers the environmental science modules of Weather and Climate, Earth Sciences and Earth in Space.This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Earth in Space’ at Elementary, Junior Primary and Senior Primary levels. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Wherever possible, learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom. Scientific enquiry skills will be an important feature in this unit. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (I CT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.
EDMA 301 Number and Operation 2
This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Number and Operation’ at SeniorPrimary level. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Wherever possible, learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom. Mathematical problem-solving skills will be an important feature in this unit. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.
EDEN301 Library and Literature
This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Library and Literature’ at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels.As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at every level.Wherever possible, learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.
EDPD301 Managing Students’ Learning and Behaviour
The ‘Managing Students’ Learning and Behaviour’ unit will enable student-teachers to understand the principles of managing students’ learning and behaviour at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels and to apply this knowledge in any classroom environment.As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan and create positive learning environments that promote the good behaviour of their students. Wherever possible, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit. There will be a four-week practicum, which will be an essential part of this unit and student-teachers will be required to pass this element of the unit before being allowed to progress on to the next part of the program.
