DGN314 Professional Issues

The Professional Issues unit aims to enable the student nurses to apply and the understanding moral ethics in nursing to the service to Life and health care of persons, in the health institutions and the community at large both in rural and urban settings in Papua New Guinea in PNG, as well as their personal life and relationship with other staff.

This unit covers professional standards including legal and ethical issues, governing bodies other related issues in nursing. The unit aim to necessary information on the nursing profession and its practices both nationally and internationally. It enables students to acquire knowledge and equip themselves with information on new trends in nursing practices and to have a better understanding of the professional, legal and ethical obligations of nursing, with particular reference to rural and urban Papua New Guinea. Professional Studies helps students to develop professional behaviour and be orientated to legal responsibilities for their nursing duties and interventions.
