EDRE302 Citizenship in Papua New Guinea from a Christian Perspective

This unit will enable the student-teachers to teach ‘Citizenship in Papua New Guinea from a Christian Perspective’ at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to reflect, plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Wherever possible, learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom, in the real world. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.

EDHU302 Society and Government in Papua New Guinea

This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Society and Government in Papua New Guinea’ at SeniorPrimary level. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment. Wherever possible, learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom, in the real world. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.

EDPD302 Planning and Programming (including a 4 week teaching practicum)

This unit will enable student-teachers to learn the principles of ‘Planning and Programming’ and be able to apply them when teaching at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan and develop learning programs that will support their particular children’s learning needs in an interactive and stimulating environment. Wherever possible, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit. There will be a four week practicum, which will be an essential part of this unit and student-teachers will be required to pass this element of the unit before being allowed to complete this phase of the program.

EDMA302 Data and Statistics

This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Data and Statistics’ at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Wherever possible, learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom. Mathematical problem-solving skills will be an important feature in this unit. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.

EDEN302 Assessing and Implementing the English Curriculum

This unit will enable student-teachers to learn about ‘Assessing and Implementing the Curriculum’ in the context of English.As well as learning specific strategies for assessing language, student-teachers will learn approaches to planning and programming in English. Wherever possible, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.

EDCD302 Community Development and Technology

This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Community Development and Technology’ at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels. In Elementary, student-teachers will teach children to play an active role in helping to build their community by wise use and care of resources. Through the implementation of community projects, they will teach Junior and SeniorPrimary children about the importance of technology in improving community life. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Wherever possible learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom, in the real world. Technological skills will be an important feature in this unit. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.
