This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Cultural Environment from a Christian Perspective’ at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to reflect, plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Wherever possible, learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom, in the real world. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.

EDHU301 Expressive Arts (Art, Craft, Music, Dance & Drama)

This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Expressive Arts’ at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels. The unit covers art, craft, dance, drama and music forms of creative expression. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Wherever possible learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom, in the real world. It will cover both the traditional expressive arts of Papua New Guinea and those of the wider world. Wherever appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.

This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Earth and Space’ at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Wherever possible, learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom. Scientific enquiry skills will be an important feature in this unit. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.

EDPD301 Child Development and Inclusive Education

This unit will enable student-teachers to understand the principles of ‘Child Development and Inclusive Education’ and to be able to apply this at Elementary, JuniorPrimary and SeniorPrimary levels. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to assess individual children’s learning development and abilities in a class and be able to support their learning needs in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Student-teachers will learn that, wherever possible, specialist professional attention should be given to children with special needs. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.


EDMA301 Number and Operation 2

This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Number and Operation’ at SeniorPrimary level. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Wherever possible, learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom. Mathematical problem-solving skills will be an important feature in this unit. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.
